Beech Mountain

Rising 839 feet above sea level, Beech Mountain offers wonderful views of Mount Desert Island and features a large observation tower at the top.

The loop hike is 2 to 2.3 miles long, depending on the route we take. The trails feature plenty of rocks and roots, but they aren’t as steep or difficult as many other mountain trails in the park, making this mountain great for newer hikers.

You’ll enjoy a lot of natural variety on this hike. Part of the hike is fairly flat and travels through a dip between two mountains, passing many giant boulders along the way. Other parts of the hike are on open ledges with wonderful views of the area.
