Black Mountain

Rising 1,049 feet above sea level, Black Mountain belongs to a cluster of mountains in eastern Maine that are preserved within the state-owned Donnell Pond Unit. Topped with two peaks, the mountain can be explored by a number of interconnecting hiking trails. From its bald east peak, hikers can enjoy a 360-degree view of the region.

The mountain is located in Donnell Pond Public Lands, 14,000 acres of state-owned land in Hancock County. The hike ranges in length from 3.2 miles to 5 miles, depending on which trailhead you use.
